The museum is currently opened on Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends from 10am to 4pm. We aim to eventually open 7 days per week. The museum attracts a diverse range of visitors from all over the world.
WebbAbout us LSAFM was established in 1996 to showcase the significant contribution made by the Lithgow Small Arms Factory since its commencement in June 1912. The Museum is community based and its operations are overseen by a volunteer-based Management Committee. The Museum is one of the unique cultural institutions in Australia and globally. WebbThe Small Arms Factory in Lithgow is a reminder of Australia’s industrial past when the country was self reliant and able to produce its small armaments. Now disused the factory is merely an empty shell, although Thales still operate part of the site. However the old administration building is now a museum displaying items once manufactured there.
